Cheryl K. Stroud, 66, passed away January 12 at Bright Kavanaugh House after a lengthy battle with cancer. Inurnment of cremains at Chapel Hill will be held at a later date and will include a Motorcycle Motorcade as per her wishes. Further information will be posted. Born September 26, 1944 to Lee Wallace and Mildred Kreitlow in Garner, IA, and raised on the family farm in Kanawha, IA, where she was active in 4H, taking care of the animals and driving tractors. After finishing high school she attended AIB earning an Executive Secretary degree. She worked for Look Magazine and Thrun & Hazelbaker Cheverolet. She married Jim L. Stroud in 1973. She took her artistic talent with leather crafting to craft shows and flea markets. She earned many blue and red ribbons at the Iowa State Fair. In 1981, Cheryl and Jim opened C & J Leather, doing custom leather goods and repairs.

Cheryl is survived by her husband, Jim; step-sons, Jerry (Sherri), Brian (Kellie King and Bob (Doris), ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her mother, Mildred Kreitlow; brother, Harley (Marcia) Kreitlow; sisters, Janaan Wiegand and Rebecca (Ron) Swaney and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her father, Lee Wallace Kreitlow. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Central Iowa.
