TYLER, Texas - Marie Vierkant, 99, of Tyler, Texas, formerly of Meservey, Iowa, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, in Tyler. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday Jan. 14, 2011, at the Meservey cemetery. Pastor Jon Vierkant will officiate. Burial will take place in the cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to the First Reformed Church basement in Meservey for fellowship after the service at the cemetery. Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luick's Lane South of Belmond is in charge of local arrangements.

Marie E. Pals Vierkant, age 99, of Jacksonville, passed away on January 5, 2011 at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler, TX. She was born December 6, 1911 in Palsville, Iowa. Mrs. Vierkant was a retired one-room country school teacher and housewife. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard A. Vierkant. Survivors include her son Arlyn Vierkant of Jacksonville, daughter Mary Lee Thiessen of Davenport, Iowa, nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Interment will be in the family gravesite at Meservey Cemetery in Meservey, Iowa at 1:00 pm Friday, January 14, 2011. Services will be conducted by The Rev. Jonathan Vierkant, her grandson. There will be no visitation with the family.
