L. Gilbertson, 54, Succumbs of Heart Ailment

Leonard DeVere Gilbertson, 54, 416 N. Hampton street, died Dec. 15 at the Fairmont Community Hospital. Death was caused by a heart ailment. He was sick for about a week and was hospitalized Friday, Dec. 14. He was born Sept. 21, 1902 at Goldfield, Ia. At the age of 11 he came to Martin county with his parents. In 1920 he moved to the Fargo area where he lived for nine years. He then returned to Fairmont to work as a carpenter. For the past 15 years he has been employed at Fairmont Railway Motors. He married Beata Voeks, May 30, 1941 at Northrup. He was a member of Grace Lutheran church.

Surviving are his wife, Beata, and three children, Robert and Betty of Downgiac, Michigan and eleven year old Ramona at home. Also Three grandchildren. His eldest son, Leonard Jr. was killed in an automobile accident three and a half years ago. Three sisters and four brothers also survive him, Mrs. L. B. Tegland, Riverside Calif.; Mrs. L. G. Cleveland, Waterville, Minn.; Mrs. Harold Jose, Sherburn, Minn, Oliver of Fairmont, Minn.; Melville, Sherburn, Minn.; Clifford, Fargo, N. Dakota, and Everett of Albert Lea, Minn. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. at Grace Lutheran church. The Rev. E. S. Ede officiated. The Olson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
