Vivian Janet Crandall, the daughter of Andrew and Jennie (Pedersen) Olson, was born August 12, 1934, in Kanawha, Iowa. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1951. On May 15, 1954, Vivian was united in marriage with R. J. “Toby” Crandall in Chillicothe, Missouri. While Toby served in the United States Marine Corps, the couple made their home in a number of cities and states, including California, Colorado, South Carolina, and Florida. They returned to Iowa in 1970, living in Webster City and moving back to Eagle Grove in 1978. Vivian was a member of Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. She enjoyed spending time with her family and golfing.

Vivian passed away on Monday, January 3, 2011, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, at the age of 76 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Helen Casey; brothers, Kenneth and Alvin Olson and a grandson, Alec Lawson. Survivors include her husband, Toby of Eagle Grove; son, Mike Crandall of Lillian, AL; daughter, Susie Elberg and husband Marty of Eagle Grove; two grandsons, Kaleb Lawson and Taylor Elberg of Eagle Grove and sister, Mildred Lofgreen and husband Kenneth of Salt Lake City, UT.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 8, 2011, 2:30 p.m. at the Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Richard Taylor officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
