February 26, 1918 - December 30, 2010

Lucille Schroder, 92, of Beloit, WI, passed away peacefully December 30, 2010 surrounded by family. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend who will be remembered for her loving heart and courageous spirit. Lucille was born in Goldfield, Iowa on February 26, 1918, one of seven children born to Adam and Clara (Jostes) Cross. She married Eldon Schroder on May 17, 1941, her devoted husband of 69 years. After WWII, Eldon and Lucille settled in Beloit and stayed busy raising four children. Lucille sold Avon for 35 years and always enjoyed meeting and working with people. Family and friends were her main interest in life – never missing a family reunion, birthday, or a family card game. She and Eldon enjoyed a long, happy retirement traveling the country, enjoying its beauty and visiting friends and relatives along the way. Lucille was an active member of River of Life Methodist Church and volunteered with Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by her husband Eldon; son, Curtis (Kathy) Schroder of Beloit, WI; daughters, Carol (Cal) Hansen of New Bern, NC, Marsha (Steve) Norton of Overland Park, KS, and Vicki (Dave) Cornford of Roscoe, IL; grandchildren, Craig Hansen of Charlottesville, VA, Lori Torcasio of Naperville, IL, Scott Norton of Weston, FL, Stefanie Forbes of Olathe, KS, Bryce Norton and Shantel Howe of Mason City, IA, Jessica Bartmann of Waukesha, WI, Amber and Ashley Cornford of Roscoe, IL; step-grandchildren, Denise Buhmeyer and Bryan Carter of Beloit, WI; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Viola Pimper and Evelyn Kraemer. She was predeceased by her parents, three brothers, and one sister. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 3, 2011 in the River of Life Methodist Church, 511 Public Ave., Beloit, WI with Pastor David Carlson officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, IL. Visitation will be Monday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service in the church. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, WI assisted the family with arrangements. She will be greatly missed and forever treasured in our hearts. Memorials may be given in her name to the Beloit Regional Hospice or River of Life Methodist Church.
