Norman L. Lacey, 77, of Webster City, died Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at the Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center with Rev. Pete Peterson officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post #191 of Webster City. A visitation will be held on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and after 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at Fosters.
Norman Leo Lacey son of Jay and Florice Messerschmidt Lacey was born on January 23, 1933 at Corydon, Iowa. He graduated from Clarion High School in 1951. Norman proudly served in the United States Army from 1953 thru 1955. On November 5, 1955 he married Shirley Ann Richmond at the First Baptist Church in Eagle Grove. Norman worked as a spot welder for Hart Carter Company for 13 years and for over 28 years at Arrow Acme as a mill and lathe operator until his retirement in 1996, due to his failing health.
Survivors include his wife Shirley of Webster City; children, Rebecca Mosley of Warrensburg, MO; Diane (Ed) Lacey Tuel of Lehigh; Mark Lacey of Lincoln, NE; Connie (Skip) Baldwin of Webster City; Michael (Lisa) Lacey of Clear Lake; Michelle (John) Ubben of Webster City; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and sister, Nancy (Earl) Hibbing of Paullina, IA. Norman was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Amy Lacey; brother, Max Lacey; son-in-law, Zebedee Mosley; niece, Debbie Lacey, and brothers-in-law, Arnie Werkmeister and Robert Hepperly.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Corydon. He was a past member of the American Legion Post #191 and the U.A.W. Local #442 both of Webster City. His hobbies include fishing, playing the lottery, watching football and other sports, and collecting diecast cars. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Lacey family.
