March 10, 1930 -- November 23, 2010

The funeral service for Floraine "Magle" Jansen, 80, of Milton, Wis., and formerly of Chicago, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, at Christus Victor Lutheran Church, 1045 Arlington Heights Road, Elk Grove Village, where she will lie in state from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Mount Emblem Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday, at Grove Memorial Chapel, 1199 S. Arlington Heights Road (three blocks south of Biesterfield Road), Elk Grove Village.

Born March 10, 1930, in Thor, Iowa, to Ed and Hannah (nee Hobberstead) Severson, she passed away peacefully Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, in Phoenix, Ariz. After graduation from Eagle Grove High School in 1948, she went to nursing school in Chicago. From 1948 to 1995, she was a registered nurse and administrator, caring for others. On Sept. 29, 1951, in Chicago, she married Francis W. Jansen, and celebrated 38 years of marriage until his death on Aug. 10, 1989. Magle was a wonderful, caring person, loved by many. She cherished every moment with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She loved to travel, cook, fish (always caught the first and biggest fish) and was a terrific gardener with a green thumb that could make any plant or flower grow and bloom. She also loved to root for her beloved Chicago Bears and Cubs. Magle would not hesitate to help family and friends in a time of need. She also was an active member of the Sons of Norway and Red Hatters.

Magle is survived by her special friend and partner, John Bosch; her loving sons, Steve (Kathy), Scott (Janice) and Jeffery (Tina); and cherished grandchildren, Tim, Michelle, Matthew, Daniel, Billy and Alex. She is also survived by her brother, Richard (Alice) Severson; plus many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Kenneth and Edward Severson. "Mom, we all will greatly miss you and you will always be in our hearts." Grove Memorial Chapel.
