EAGLE GROVE, IA - Marie M. (Andrews) Moon, the daughter of Art and Mae (Cain) Andrews, was born July 31, 1914, in Clare, Iowa. Marie attended St. Matthew's Parochial school and graduated from St. Matthew's High School in 1933. Marie worked for Central States Telephone Company. On February 9, 1944, Marie was united in marriage with Clifford Moon at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Clare, Iowa. They made their home in Eagle Grove where Clifford was employed as a conductor for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad and Marie was a homemaker and raised two children, Loretta and Roger. For 29 years Marie and her family spent Christmas in San Diego.

Marie had been a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Madonna #157 in Eagle Grove since 1944, serving as organist for 15 years and also treasurer of the Court. She was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Sacred Heart Rosary Guild, serving as treasurer, the American Legion Auxiliary from 1962 to 2004, Eagle Grove Senior Citizens, serving as treasurer form 1991 to 2004 and president form August 1987 to 1991 and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. On June 4, 1997, Marie received the Governor's Volunteer Award from Gov. Terry E. Branstad. Marie also gave music lessons for many years, each Christmas a piano recital would be held in her home with many delicious, homemade goodies.

Marie passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2010, at Van Diest Medical Center in Webster at the age of 96 years and deeded her body to Des Moines University Osteopathic Medical Center for research. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clifford; son, Roger; sister, Regis Crawford and brother-in-law, Joseph R. Crawford and a nephew, Dr. John Crawford. Survivors include her daughter, Loretta of Eagle Grove; daughter-in-law, Cecilia and granddaughter, Joanna of San Diego, CA and sister-in-law, LaVerna (Moon) Hannum of Boone.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Mass of Christina Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove with Father Nils Hernandez officiating. Rosary will be led by the Catholic Daughters of the Americas at 1:00 pm in the Parish Center with visitation to follow until service time. Foust Funeral Home & Cremation of Eagle Grove in charge of arrangements.
