December 31, 1923 -- March 3, 2002

WEBSTER CITY, IA - Glen "Bud" Gilbert, 78, died Sunday (March 3, 2002) at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at Foster Funeral Home, 800 Willson Ave., Webster City, with Cindi O'Brien, ministry assistant, officiating. Burial will be in Cass Township Cemetery north of Webster City. Military graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion Post No. 191. Visitation was held be from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and will resume prior to the service today.

Glen Arthur Gilbert, son of Harvey and Bertha Jannsen Gilbert, was born Dec. 30, 1923, on a farm southwest of Buffalo Center. He attended Buffalo Center public school, graduating in 1941. During World War II, he served with the U. S. Navy. Following his discharge, he worked for Jensvold Implement at Buffalo Center. On Sept. 17, 1948, he married Kathryn Amy Griffin at Buffalo Center. The couple resided in Buffalo Center until 1953 when they moved to Webster City. In Webster City he worked for Stafford Implement, Nissen's and Kueen's R.V. Mrs. Gilbert died Jan. 16, 1993. Mr. Gilbert retired later in 1993. Glen was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, American Legion Post No. 191, and Pheasants Forever. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marjorie Kiewiet.
