Eagle Grove – Wava Mae Thorn, was born December 8, 1915, in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Ethel (Updike) Bradford. She was raised and educated in Clarion, graduating from Clarion High School in 1933. On April 7, 1935, Wava was united in marriage with Roy C. Thorn in Eagle Grove. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove. Roy preceded her in death on March 13, 1991. Wava was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Wava passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove at the age of 94 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Frank Detrick. Survivors include her daughters, Marcia Gray (Ron) of Kent, OH and Carolyn Bernard (Don) of Batesville, AR; six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, November 1, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Mike Agnew officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family. Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove in charge of arrangements.
