Eagle Grove – Kenneth Merle Jensen, the son of Joseph and Minnie (Sandwick) Jensen, was born July 21, 1932, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth, graduating from Eagle Grove High School in 1950. He then attended microscopy classes at Iowa State. Kenneth was employed at M&M Livestock Products Co. as a Production Supervisor and was responsible for Quality Control and Purchasing until his retirement in 1997, after 45 years of service. Kenneth served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and worked in Battalion Headquarters, 25th Division, serving from 1952 to 1954.
In 1955, Kenneth was united in marriage with Marilyn Pardun and they had two children. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove. Kenneth was a lifetime member of the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church. Kenneth had a true gift for playing the guitar. Through the years, he played with various combos, with the church choir and numerous singing groups. Kenneth enjoyed yearly fishing excursions to Borden Lake Resort in Minnesota and was an avid Chicago Bears fan. First and above all, he was content being with his family.
Kenneth passed away Thursday, October 21 2010, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House in Fort Dodge, at the age of 78 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Arloine and brother, Vernon (Bud) Jensen. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Jensen; daughter, Chris Jensen of Eagle Grove; son, Dr. Curt Jensen and wife LeAnn of Marshfield, MO; five grandchildren: Jordan Harding, Holly Harding, Briauna Mingus, Greer Mingus of Eagle Grove and Bryan Jensen of Marshfield, MO; brother, Lowell Jensen and wife Sherry of Granite Falls, WA; brothers-in-law, Ray Pardun of Blue Springs, MO and Frank Pardun and wife Peggy of Joplin, MO and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Chris Lang officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
