John R. McClelland, 66, of Harvel, Illinois died Friday, Oct. 8, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. Funeral services will be held Monday, Oct. 11, at 1 p.m. at Hough Funeral Home in Raymond. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be at Harvel Cemetery.
Born Aug. 27, 1944, at Clarion, Iowa, he was a son of the late Max Carlyle and Marian Cecelia (Jensen) McClelland. He married Cheryl Frarer Nov. 26, 1966, at Hillsboro. She survives. Mr. McClelland worked as a parts man at several area dealerships including W.P. Balsley Imp., Trinity Motors, Bandy Chevrolet, Raymond Ford, and most recently Timmermann Implement in Litchfield. He had served on the Harvel Village Board, attended the Presbyterian Church in Morrisonville, and was a member of the Raymond Presbyterian Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Meri Beth (husband Dave) Weller of Farmersville; four grandchildren, Kierstyn Taylor, Ashlynn Elizabeth, Blade Charles Douglas and Emme Rose, all of Farmersville; a brother, Ronald McClelland of Washington state; an aunt, Ruth Moen of Dennison, Iowa; a cousin and several nieces. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Nollen. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
