Funeral Services for David Moore, age 61, of Bedford, Iowa, who entered into peace Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Mercy Alegent Hospital, Council Bluffs, Iowa were held Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 10:00 am at the Ritchie Funeral Home in Bedford, Iowa with pastor Dan Wiebesiek officiating. Visitation was held Monday, August 16, 2010. Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery, Bedford, Iowa. Memorials may be given in David’s name to the Bedford United Methodist Church. Arrangements were entrusted to Ritchie Funeral Home, Bedford, Iowa.
David Eugene Moore passed away Thursday, August 12, 2010 surrounded by his family at Mercy Alegent Hospital following a long heroic battle with cancer. He was 61 years old. David Moore was born July 20, 1949, in Rock Island, Illinois to parents George Moore and Betty (Snyder) Moore. He grew up in Bettendorf, Iowa attending Bettendorf High School graduating in 1967. He attended Iowa State University and Saint Ambrose College graduating in 1971 majoring in biology. He united into marriage to Janice Lee Willey on May 11, 1974 at the United Methodist Church, Belmond, Iowa. David worked as the DNR officer for Taylor and Adams County for 37 years. He loved being a DNR officer and also enjoyed administering and repairing electronics for the Department of Natural Resources. David retired from the DNR in 2006. David loved being with people, and was known for his many stories and his unique sense of humor. He was a very passionate outdoorsman, and enjoyed both hunting and fishing. He loved all types of electronics, and tinkering with anything that had wires. He enjoyed photography and reading, especially the Harry Potter and Dune Series. David was also an avid ham radio operator, and was active in the local amateur Radio Club. He was also a active member of the Taylor County Masonic Lodge, and enjoyed meeting with his brothers of the fraternity. Above all else family was the most important thing to David. He loved his wife, and enjoyed spoiling her with roses or cappuccino whenever possible. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
David will be greatly missed by many. Left to cherish the memories of a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend are his wife Janice Lee; children Kristin Anne of Clarinda, Iowa; Ryan Charles and wife Elyse of Lincoln, Nebraska; grandsons Alexander Stull, Connor Stull, Duncan Stull, and Channing Pedersen of Clarinda, Iowa; mother-in-law Edna Mae Willey of Belmond, Iowa; sister-in-law Rae Jean Leu and family of Santa Barbara, CA; and many friends.
Preceding David in death were his parents and brother Michael Moore.David has blessed our lives in so many ways, and we will cherish the memories that we have made. He will live in our hearts forever. May god grant comfort and strength to those who morn his passing.
