HARDY, IA - Ruth Marie Kitley, 93, of Humboldt, formerly of Hardy, passed away September 29, 2010 at the Marian Home in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Renwick with the Rev. Christina Perkins officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday (today) at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. Interment will be in Vernon Township Cemetery, Hardy.

Mrs. Kitley is survived by her sons, Denis H. Kitley of Omaha, and Dean E. Kitley of Fort Dodge; granddaughter, Kelsey Peart of Fort Dodge; granddaughter-in-law, Jean Hoveland of Kanawha; great grandchildren, Tiffany, Ashley, and Kirsten Kitley, Keaton and Kade Peart; and her sister, JoAnn Sorensen of Fort Dodge. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lyle in 1993; grandson, Kevin in 1997, daughter-in-law, Vivian in 2009, sister, Helen Waldrop; and brother, Richard Waddell.

Ruth Marie Waddell, the daughter of Conro H. and Hazel (Smith) Waddell, was born September 5, 1917 at Kanawha, Iowa. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Fort Dodge where she graduated from High School in 1935. Following her education, Ruth was employed as a secretary in Des Moines. She was united in marriage to Lyle Kitley on January 10, 1942 in Fort Dodge. For ten years, Ruth was employed as a medical secretary in Fort Dodge. The couple made their home on the family farm near Hardy until moving to Humboldt in 1976. Mr. Kitley died in 1993 and Ruth continued to maintain her home in Humboldt until becoming a resident of the Marian Home in 2008.

Mrs. Kitley was a member of the United Methodist Church and UMW, the Humboldt County Historical Society, Federated Women's Club, and the Humboldt Genealogy Society. She enjoyed bus trips with the bank and coffee every day with her friends. The Kitley family extends a special thank you to the staff of the Marian Home for the loving care Ruth received. Memorials may be made to the Humboldt County Historical Society.
