RENWICK, IA - Donald L. Wilson, 84, died on Wednesday morning, Sept. 8, 2010, at the Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Services are 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, 2010, at Oakcrest Funeral Services, Renwick, Iowa, with the Rev. Karen Dearchs officiating. Inurnment will be at Linwood Cemetery, Logan, Iowa. Oakcrest Funeral Services of Renwick is in charge of arrangements.
Donald Lyle Wilson, son of Robert P. and Hester (Campbell) Wilson, was born Aug. 25, 1926, on the family farm in LaGrange township, Harrison County, five miles north of Beebeetown, rural Logan, Iowa. He attended Linwood and East Harris Grove rural schools. He was called to serve his country in the United States Army from 1945 1947, serving in Korea. Upon his return from service, he farmed with his brother in the Harris Grove area, before going to help his brother-in-law, Henry Boge, near Humboldt, Iowa in the summer of 1947. In 1948, he started working for Donie and Elsie Clowes of Renwick and became part of their family. In later years, he lived at Springvale Independent Living in Humboldt and Humboldt Care Center South. Don was a private person, very helpful, enjoyed a good joke, visiting with friends and neighbors and loved his dogs. Preceding him in death were his parents, a sister Wilma Boge Rutledge, a brother Robert E. Wilson and a nephew Bill Boge. Survivors include a sister, Ruth Heim of Logan, Iowa as well as four nephews and three nieces.
