David Edward Garman was born on August 29, 1944, at Mason City, Iowa to Edward and Arlene Studer Garman. He graduated from the Corwith-Wesley High School in Corwith, Iowa. After his schooling, Dave served his country during the Vietnam Conflict in the U.S. Navy from 1964-1968. Dave was married to Georgene Richter on June 29, 1968 at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wesley. Dave worked at Universal Manufacturing in Algona for a time, worked in the grain elevator construction business and worked for the Wesley Lumber Company. In October of 1971, Dave started working for Hormel in Algona. He retired from Hormel in 2000, due to ill health. Dave was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wesley. He also belonged to the Andrews American Legion Post #428 in Wesley, Iowa. Dave enjoyed woodworking, model airplane building, gardening and fishing.

Dave died at his home in Wesley on Tuesday, March 14, 2006. He was 61. Surviving are his children, Brian Garman and wife, Linda, Whittemore, Iowa, Paul Garman and wife, Michele, Corwith, Iowa, Tim Garman and wife, Nina, Seattle, Washington, Jolene Lamp and husband Scott, Moville, Iowa, Eric Garman and wife, Sarah, Bancroft, Iowa and Joshua Garman, Wesley, Iowa. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren; Chloe, Jade, Darek, Payton, Tyler and Kali Garman and Quincy and Connor Lamp. Dave is also survived by his brother, Dan Garman and wife, Becky, Wesley, Iowa and 2 sisters, Diane Daigle and husband, Paul, Cohasset, Minnesota and Deb Weringa and husband, Craig, Blue Earth, Minnesota. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, his step mother, Ardyth and 2 infant sisters.
