Dorothy "Maxine" Hotz, 76, of 4845 Johnson Ave. NW, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, in St. Luke's Hospital following a long illness. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, Cedar Hills Evangelical Free Church, by the Rev. Randy Scheil. Burial: 1 p.m. Thursday, Shiloh Cemetery, Hiawatha. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Teahen Funeral Home and 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Survivors include her husband, Millard; a daughter, Collette (Jeff) Young of Palo; three grandchildren, Amber (Jeff) Bonlander, Briehana and Jennifer Young; a great-grandchild, McKenna Marie Bonlander; and special friends, Sue Shadden and Vonda Darrow. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosman and Elva Simpson; and three brothers.

Born Nov. 24, 1923, in Corwith, she married Millard Hotz on Dec. 15, 1956, in Burt. She was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II and taught at the business college in Fort Dodge after the war. Maxine was a member of Cedar Hills Evangelical Free Church. Memorials may be directed to the family. Charles Witousek: Graveside services, 10:30 a.m. today, Anderson Cemetery near Swisher.
