IRMO, SC - Funeral services for Ruth Mary Vitzthum Kaloplastos, 72, will be held at Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to St. Judes Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., or Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church. Vigil service will be Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel.

Mrs. Kaloplastos, wife of the late Emanuel N. Kaloplastos, died Saturday, July 1, 2000. Born in Wesley, Iowa, she was a daughter of the late George and Bernice Dolan Vitzthum. She was a member of Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Church. She was a loving "grandmother" to all who knew her.

Surviving are her sons, John Kaloplastos of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., James Kaloplastos of Greenville; daughters, Dawn Beard of Hopkins, Dale Kaloplastos of Gaston, Nikki Lee of Hopkins, Mary Polio of Bladensburg, Md., Rita McLendon of Irmo, Christy Maddox of North Augusta, Brandy Kaloplastos of Irmo, Holly Kaloplastos of Irmo; brothers, Lou Vitzthum of Pontiac, Ill., Tom Vitzthum of Laurens, Iowa, Mike Vitzthum of Wesley, Iowa; sisters, Rita Youngwirth of Wesley, Janice Ludwig of Corwith, Iowa; 18 grandchildren, including Leon and Crystal Black who lived with her. She was predeceased by a daughter, Ann Kaloplastos Black.
