Jay Julius Jackson, 60, of Yakima died Friday. He was born in Corwith, Iowa, and was the ninth of 10 children. He attended schools in East Valley and enlisted in the U.S. Army after high school. He was in the Army for 20 years and later worked for Washington Beef for the past 17 years.
Survivors include his wife, Karen; three daughters, Barbara Martin and Anna Jackson, both of Yakima, and Ute Duncan of Georgia; three sons, Steven Fund of LaGrand, Ore., Brian Chaplin of Yakima and Peter Rauwolf of Texas; two brothers, Leonard Jackson of Lacey, Wash., and Arnold Jackson of Yakima; three sisters, Helen Acord of Selah, Cecilia Cantrell of Turlock, Calif., and Sharon Landon of Kennewick; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Keith & Keith Funeral Home in Yakima. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
