Hubert Hill, 88, Ellsworth, died on Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services are held on Friday, July 10, 2009 at 10:30 am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. Hubert Hill will be buried at Homewood Cemetery in Ellsworth. Memorial contributions may be made to Riverside Lutheran Bible Camp, Trinity Lutheran Church or Israel Hospice House. Boeke Funeral Home of Radcliffe is in charge of arrangements.

Hubert was born October 7, 1920, to Albert and Clara (Thoreson) Hill, in the home his father built, a home that he lived in all his life. Hubert was baptized, confirmed, and a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. Hubert served as chairman of the congregation, as a Luther League adviser, and on church boards; he also taught Sunday school and confirmation. Hubert graduated from Ellsworth High School and attended Waldorf College, where he later received an honorary degree. In 1943, Hubert married Daisy Cormaney of Blairsburg, Iowa. He served on the Federal Land Bank Board and three terms on the Waldorf College Board of Regents where he led as chairman of the board. Throughout his life, Hubert was a devoted family man. He never met a person he didn't like. He could visit with anyone. He was always looking to help someone and always looked on the bright side of life. His hobbies in retirement included his family, golfing and watching baseball games, spending winters in Florida, and traveling to other parts of the world.

Hubert is survived by his wife Daisy of Ellsworth; their three children, Paul (Mary) Hill of Ellsworth, Faye (Noel) Thompson of Ellsworth, Ann (Douglas) Hill Duin of Hastings, Minnesota; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Veda Knowles of Williamsburg, Virginia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Hubert was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Clara; sister Joyce and brother Delmar.
