WEBSTER CITY, IA - Gerald D. Caquelin, 82, of Webster City, died Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Foster Chapel, with Rev. Pete Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and prior to the service on Wednesday.

Gerald Dwayne Caquelin, son of Clarence and Pearl Weir Caquelin, was born November 14, 1927 at Webster City. He received his education in the Webster City school system and graduated from Drake University in 1955. On November 14, 1953, he married Darlene Burnett at the Church of Christ in Webster City. He taught at Jewell and Woolstock. For 14 years, he served as elementary principal for the Eagle Grove Community School system, also during this time, he farmed east of Woolstock. He drove school bus for the Webster City school system for 30 years. For 21 years, he served as a lay minister for the United Methodist Church. For the past 11 years, he had served as pastor for the Ellis United Methodist Church, southwest of Iowa Falls.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Darlene; son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Karla Caquelin of Webster City; daughter, Terri Hanson of Fort Dodge; grandchildren, Andrea and Clint Draheim of Waukee; Allie Caquelin of Webster City; Emily Hanson of Omaha, NE; Chapin Hanson of Fort Dodge and a great-grandson, Tanner Draheim. He was preceded in death by his parents. Gerald was a member of Faith United Methodist Church; was the last charter member and past president of Diamond K (Kiwanis); for 2 years, served as lieutenant governor for 8 Kiwanis clubs in his district; was a member of the Ban de la Roche at Woolstock and for many years was active in the French Church operations.
