VINCENT, IA - Lucille Messerly, 96, of Vincent, passed away on Friday, August 06, 2010 at the Villa Care Center in Fort Dodge. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 9, 2010 at Trinity United Methodist Church with burial following at the Newark Township Cemetery, Vincent, IA. The visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Lucille was born in Coalville, IA on March 23, 1914 to David and Elizabeth Davis. She grew up in the Duncombe and Brushy area. She married Clarence Messerly on February 27, 1934. She was a member of the Vincent United Methodist Church for 75 years. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed playing cards.

Lucille is survived by her husband Clarence; children Deloris (Donald) Soppeland, Marian French and David (Sally) Messerly; special daughter Marillyn Korth; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law Eileen Dennis of Wheaton, IL; and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her daughter Marjorie Severson; son-in-laws Geoffrey French and Wayne Severson; one great-great-grandson; 3 brothers and 5 sisters. Memorials may be left to the family for their further discretion.
