BELMOND, IA — Eva Irene Larson, 89, of Belmond, died Tuesday (Jan. 20, 1998) at the Belmond Health Care Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Francis Xavier Church, Belmond, with Father Jack Paisley officiating. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Belmond. Visitation will be held from 2 until 9 p.m. Friday at the Tenold Funeral Home, Belmond, with a 2:30 p.m. Parish rosary and an 8 p.m. Scriptural wake service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Eva Irene (Becker) Larson, the daughter of Mathias and Rosalia "Fannie" (Heath) Becker was born Dec. 14, 1908, at Garner, Iowa. She graduated from Garner High School and came to work as a secretary at the sugar beet plant in Belmond, where she met Dr. A.M. Larson, who was practicing dentistry in Belmond. They were married on May 31, 1930, and celebrated 65 years of marriage. Eva was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Belmond and she was a charter member of the Catholic Daughters of Americas. She belonged to Kensington Club, Tally Ho Bridge Club, Clarmond and Belmond Country Clubs. Eva liked to fish, play golf, bowl and play bridge. Babysitting, baking, and cooking for her family were her biggest enjoyments in life. In 1984, Eva was Belmond's Mother Of The Year. She was a resident of the Belmond Health Care Center from 1994 until her death.

Eva is survived by her daughters, Janyce Kinseth, of Belmond, and Judy Long, of West Des Moines; a son, Larry Larson and his wife, Donna, of Carmel, Calif.; grandchildren, Julie Kalkwarf, Jane Turner, Jeff Kinseth, Jill Bedell, Jody Kinseth, Mark Larson, Lori Bernecker, Kathleen Borgeson, Scott Long, Tim Long, Larry Long, and Elizabeth Goode; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four sisters-in-law, Mabel Sybilrud, Pearl Larson and Dorothy Higgins, all of Belmond; and Lillian Engel, of Fort Worth, Texas; and one brother-in-law, Alfred Petersen, of Clear Lake, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dr. A.M. Larson in 1995; two sisters; and two brothers.
