EAGLE GROVE — Nellie P. Benton, 95, died Sunday (Oct. 25, 1998) at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church with the Rev. William E. Ballard officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:30 to 8 p.m. today at the Willim Funeral Home.

Nellie Pauline Paulson was born on April 12, 1903, in Sheffield, Ill. Survivors include a son, Evan Benton of Eagle Grove; two daughters, H. Louise Russell of Eagle Grove, and Linda Lou Oberhelman of Seligman, Mo.; 25 grandchildren; and over 100 great, great-great, and great-great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two children, one granddaughter, and two brothers.

Nellie Pauline Paulson was born on April 12, 1903, in Sheffield, Ill., to James William and Elisa Marie Lortzsen Paulson. In 1914, she moved to Dows with her family, where she was educated and graduated from Dows High School in 1922. She then attended and graduated from Iowa Falls Community College in 1924. She then taught school in Morgan Township at Dows for two years. She was united in marriage to Earl E. Benton on February 12, 1926, in Webster City. They farmed near Dows and Galt, then moved to Eagle Grove in the fall of 1945. Her husband died on September 21,1966. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove since 1945, and was a member of the Naomi Circle. She was also a member of the Railroad Club.

Nellie P. Benton died Sunday, October 25, 1998, at her home in Eagle Grove at the age of 95. Survivors include a son, Evan Benton and wife, Shirley, Eagle Grove; two daughters, H. Louise Russell, and husband, Leo, Eagle Grove, and Linda Lou Oberhelman, Seligman, Mo.; 25 grandchildren; and over 100 great, great-great, and great great-great grandchildren - there are 5 generations surviving. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl; two children, Myron Benton and Myrna Hamm; one granddaughter, Lorraine; and two; brothers, Peter and Clarence.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 29,1998 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with Reverend William E. Ballard officiating. Burial was held in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
