BELMOND - Harvey Richard Sturm Sr., age 70, of Belmond, passed away Wednesday (July 21, 2010) at Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa in Mason City. Funeral services for Harvey Sturm will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Belmond. Pastor Paddy Druhl and Pastor Mike Druhl will co-officiate. Burial will take place in the Belmond Cemetery. Visitation for Harvey Sturm Sr. will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at the Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luick's Lane South in Belmond, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. A Masonic service will be conducted by the Masonic Lodge of Clarion at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Dugger Funeral Home.

Harvey Richard was born on March 27, 1940, in Sioux City, to Albert George and Nellie May Robertson Sturm. Harvey was united in marriage to Delores Roosa on July 4, 1959, at the United Methodist Church in Hampton. The couple made their home in Belmond where they raised their family. Harvey worked for US Steel for over 30 years, for Farmers Grain in Belmond for two years and was also employed at the Klemme Co-op for 16 years, the last six as the manager. Harvey enjoyed all motor sports, had a great passion for classic cars, he was an avid hunter and fisherman, he also loved to watch old-time Western movies. Harvey was a member of the Belmond Volunteer Fire Department for 19 years, Belmond Jaycees, and Masonic Lodge. He is remembered for the friends he encountered everywhere, but most of all he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Harvey is survived by his wife, Delores; children, Sherry McKague and Scott of Driggs, Idaho, Harvey Jr. and Wendy of Goodell, Kevin and Angel of Gowrie; grandchildren, Melissa, Christine, Nathan, Brittany, Nicole, Hollie, Kylee, Ciara and Shayla (Jay) Davison, who are both serving in the United States Army; five great-grandchildren, Berlin, Adrien, Allcia, Marty, and Jadalyn; brothers, Albert Lee and Karen of Geneva, Ardell and Shirley of Humboldt, Roy and Leverna of Belmond; brother-in-law, Roger Mumford, Rowan; and numerous nieces and nephews. Harvey is preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Darlene and Marjorie. Dugger Funeral Home, Belmond.
