Funeral services for Ardis Elizabeth Rockwood were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 9, 2010, at Oakcrest Funeral Services in LuVerne with Reverend Cindy Morrison officiating. Burial was in the LuVerne Cemetery.

Ardis Elizabeth Rockwood was born June 6, 1922, on the family farm near LuVerne, Iowa the daughter of James and Martha (Houser) Godfrey. She grew up on the farm and attended school in town. She graduated from the LuVerne High School and went on to attend AIB in Des Moines. On March 23, 1941, Ardis was united in marriage to Wilder Rockwood in Madelia, Minn. After their marriage they lived and farmed in the LuVerne area. Ardis was an avid seamstress, always sewing clothes for her twin daughters and later even did some tailoring. She also enjoyed animals, gardening, working on the farm, playing the piano and operating her ham radio. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Ladies Circle, Eastern Star, White Shrine and Daughters of the Nile.

Ardis died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at the Algona Manor Care Center. She was 88. She is survived by her twin daughters, A. Elaine and Jerry Briggs of Norwalk and Eleanor and Dan Stephens of Goldfield; grandchildren, Julie Van’t Hul of Oakland, Calif.; Pamela and Brent Kraft of Sheldon; Martha and Chad Huddleston of Webster City; Carmen and Travis Jones of Goldfield; great-grandchildren, Alex and Carter Kraft and Carly and Zach Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilder on June 13, 1965, and a sister, Lela McMartin. Arrangements were handled by Oakcrest Funeral Services of LuVerne.
