BRITT — Lillian Gladys Charbonneaux, 78, of Britt, Iowa, died on Wednesday (June 22, 2005) at Westview Care Center in Britt. Funeral services for Lillian Charbonneaux will be held 11 a.m. today at Ewing Dugger Funeral Chapel in Britt with Pastor Paddy Druhl officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Britt. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to services at 11 a.m. today at Ewing Dugger Funeral Chapel, 178 Center St. W. in Britt.
Lillian was born on July 11, 1926, to John and Gladys (Plantz) Smit in Kanawha, Iowa. She grew up in Kanawha and later moved to Crystal Lake where she met and married Roy. The couple made their home in Britt where Lillian cared for her husband and four daughters. Lillian's love for her family was huge; her life centered around her family. She enjoyed baking, bowling, crafts, baking bread, playing cards and bingo. She and her husband wintered in Texas for 28 years. Lillian was a Girl Scout leader, a member of the Rebecca Lodge, and a member of the Methodist Church in Britt.
Survivors include her husband, Roy; and four daughters: Lanette (Bill) Arnold of Klemme, Jane (Gordie) Beier of Garner, Joyce (James) Blankenship of Katy, Texas, and Peg Charbonneaux of Clear Lake; 14 grandchildren: Monica (Jason) Charlie, Michelle Trca, Tami Trca, Travis (Trisha) Trca, Jesse (Angie) Pringnitz, Chris (Eric) Jackson, Jerry (Karrie) Pringnitz, Roy Hrubes, Gina (Pat) Pecinovsky, Kathi (Jerry) Glascock, Brent Wellik, Lee Leerar, Kelly (Garen) Janes and Lynn Francis, and 22 great-grandchildren; a sister, Vera (Herb) Hinz of Charles City; and a sister-in-law, Evelyn Smidt of Britt; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Tena Appelhons and Helen Engebretson; and brother, Larry Anderson. Ewing Dugger Funeral Chapel.
