MASON CITY, IA - Helen M. Kellogg, 79, died Sunday (July 18, 2010) at the Good Shepherd Health Care Center, Mason City. It was Helen's wish for her body to be cremated. A private graveside service will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, with Pastor Kent A. Mechler officiating. Inurnment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4 until 6 p.m. today, Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at the Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 Third St. N.E. Mason City. Memorials may be directed to the Helen M. Kellogg Memorial.

Helen Sharp was born on March 25, 1931, in Rochester, Minn., the daughter of Dale and Gertrude (Schuler) Sharp. Helen attended Belmond schools. Helen was united in marriage to William P. Kellogg on July 24, 1948, Rochester, Minn. To this union, two children were born. Helen taught sewing at Holy Family, worked at Singer as a sewing instructor and worked at Wal-Mart for 16 years. Helen was a collector of Hallmark ornaments and P. Buckley Moss memorabilia. She loved sewing and needlework. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren taking trips and sewing for them. Helen loved her cats Sadie and Sophie. She also enjoyed watching Mason City Mohawks sporting events. Helen was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and McKinley PTA.

Helen is survived by her children, Dennis Kellogg, of Mason City, Billie Kellogg and her fiancé, Les Weizel, of Mason City; grandchildren, Eric Clausen (Erin Davis), of Iowa City, and Holly Clausen and her fiancé, Adam Kauffman, of Seattle, Wash., and one great-grandchild, Soren Clausen, of Iowa City. Helen is preceded in death by her parents and husband. Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel.
