November 2, 1996CLEAR LAKE, IA -- Larry Duane Thiemann, 57, of 1605 First Ave. N., formerly of Blue Grass, died Thursday (Oct. 31, 1996) at his home in Clear Lake. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Ward-Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. Fourth St., with the Rev. Kermit Roisen of Zion Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel and until time of services on Monday.
Larry Duane Thiemann was born June 5, 1939, in Mason City, son of Edwin and Lillian (Brown) Thiemann. He was married to Alice Aplin on Sept. 21, 1963, at the Lutheran Church in Lowden. Larry graduated from Ventura High School in 1957. He worked two years for Equitable of Iowa Insurance, then in the offices of J.I. Case in Burlington, and Rock Island, Ill., until retiring in 1988. Larry loved music and sang in the Burlington Barbershop Chorus. He enjoyed hunting and golfing and playing softball. He was an active member of the Blue Grass Community Club. Survivors include one son, Mark Thiemann and his wife, Barbara, of Davenport; one daughter, Sara Thiemann of Boone; one grandson, Dylan Thiemann of Davenport; his mother, Lillian Thiemann of Clear Lake; his sister, Joyce TenHaken of Clear Lake; one nephew, Nathan TenHaken of Clear Lake; one niece, Heather Chapman and her husband, Michael, of Tempe, Ariz.; and his aunt, Mildred Hoveland of Mason City. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Thiemann; his grandparents, Herman and Minnie Thiemann, and Andrew and Anna Brown; and many aunts and uncles.
