ALEXANDER, IA — Hannetta Modderman, 95, of Alexander, died Monday (Feb. 16, 1998) at the Willow Creek Care Center, Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Reformed Church, Alexander, with the Rev. Gerald Norman, officiating. Interment will be in Alexander Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Tenold Funeral Home, Belmond.

Hannetta Modderman, the daughter of Henry and Grace (Pals) Schulte Sr., was born Oct. 17, 1902, in Franklin County, Iowa. She was married to Claas Modderman on April 9, 1924. They lived and farmed in the Alexander area until retiring in 1962. Hannetta was a member of the First Reformed Church in Alexander, and was one of the first members baptized in 1903. She was the grandest of grandmothers, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life.

She is survived by her son, Roger Modderman and his wife, Sharon, of Mason City, Iowa; four grandchildren, Mark Modderman and his wife, Linda, of Waterloo, Iowa; Kelle Kelley and her husband, Tim, of Belmond, Iowa; Jeanne Allen, of Latimer, Iowa; Jon Modderman and his wife, Kelly, of Klemme, Iowa; and 11 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Claas; two brothers, and two sisters.
