MASON CITY — Robert J. Linne, 71, of 538 3rd St. N.E., died Monday (April 13, 1998) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday at Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 2nd St. S.E., with the Rev. Kermit Roisen of the Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Mason City Memorial Association. Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. today at the Fullerton Funeral Home, with a Moose service at 7 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Robert Linne Memorial Fund.

Robert was born Oct, 30, 1926, the son of Henry and Alvina (Sandersfeld) Linne in Klemme, Iowa. He later graduated from Clear Lake High School. Robert served his country in the U. S. Army during WW II. On June 27, 1948, Robert was united in marriage to Josephine Poohl at Zion Lutheran Church in Clear Lake. After the service he got a job at Clear Lake Sand and Gravel for a couple of years before getting a job with Henkel Construction in the maintenance department. After 40 years of working for Henkel, he retired as a foreman. Robert was a great outdoorsman who loved his fishing excursions to Canada. He was always in search of that trophy walleye. He enjoyed hunting whenever time allowed. He also liked to garden and spend time visiting with friends and neighbors. Robert was a member of the Lunker Club, the V.F.W. Post 733, and the Moose Lodge 1328 in Mason City.

Robert is survived by his wife, Josephine; two sisters, Trina and her husband, Orville Mestead, and Gertrude and her husband, Kenneth Roppe; one brother, Henry and his wife, Donna Linne Jr.; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Linne was preceded in death by his parents; sibling twins, Bernice and Elmer; and a brother, George.
