MASON CITY — Mildred G. Johnson, 75, of 1115 Fourth St. S.E., died Wednesday (May 20, 1998) at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center East. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Fullerton Funeral Home, 120 Third St. S., Rockwell, with the Rev. Stephen Meyer of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rockwell, officiating. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Fullerton Funeral Home, 123 Second St. S.E., Mason City. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in Rockwell. Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorials to the Mildred Johnson Memorial Fund.

Mildred was born Aug. 18, 1922, the daughter of Francis and Esther (Nelson) Patterson in Clear Lake. She attended and graduated from the Klemme school system. On June 4, 1942, Mildred was united in marriage to Harland Johnson at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Swaledale. Mildred drove school bus for 18 years for the Rockwell Swaledale School system. She owned the Rocket Cafe in Rockwell. She managed the Bell Motel and was currently managing the DeVille IV Apartments. She loved to visit and have coffee with her friends. Mildred was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, The Ladies of the Moose, the Eagles Lodge #3416, and the V.F.W. Legion Auxiliary.

Those thankful for having shared her life include her daughter, Jerriann and her husband, Bruce Ries, of Rockwell; one son, Edward Johnson, of Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren, Brent and Blake Blanchard; one great-grandchild, Chadd Blanchard; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Marvin Freerksen, of Mason City. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harland in 1982; and one brother, Patrick Patterson.
