GARNER — George E. Paca, 68, of Garner, died Wednesday (Aug. 26, 1998) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Duncan with Rev. Father John W. Hemann and Monsignor John Chihak officiating. Burial will be in St. John’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. Fourth St., Garner, with a 7 p.m. Scriptural wake service and a combined rosary by the Knights of Columbus and Catholic Workman’s Society at 7:45 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Saturday at the church.
George E. Paca, the son of Frank and Emma (Brcka) Paca, was born July 3, 1930, on a farm near Duncan. He attended rural elementary schools and graduated from Garner High School in 1948. He attended Loras College in Dubuque for one year.
On Jan. 22, 1950, he married Madelyn Lundy, of Klemme, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. They began farming near Klemme and in 1954 moved near Hayfield to continue farming. In 1972, he was employed at Winnebago Industries in Forest City. They resided in Forest City until they retired from Winnebago in 1992 and moved to their present home in Garner. George enjoyed his family, grandchildren, woodworking, camping and bus trips. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Catholic Workman Branch 51 of Duncan and Knights of Columbus in Forest City.He is survived by his wife, Madelyn Paca, of Garner; five children, Marty Mullnix and her husband, Marlin, of Cedar Falls, Mary Cockburn and her husband, Rob, of Palmdale, Calif., Mike Paca, of Garner; Marilyn Wilson and her husband, Ed, of Urbandale, and Marlene Young and her husband, Ron, of Garner; 10 grandchildren, Andy Mullnix and his wife, Beth, Ellie Mullnix, Jenni Mullnix, Angela Cockburn, Bobby Cockburn, Kelly Wilson, Sally Wilson, Joe Young and Ben Young; three brothers, Leonard Paca and his wife, Monica, of Garner, Raymond Paca and his wife, Jean Ann, of Des Moines, and Kenny Paca and his wife, Dianne, of Garner; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
