Roger D. Olson, 56, of Ventura, died Tuesday (March 4, 1997) at the Austin Medical Center, Austin, Minn. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church, Klemme, with the Rev. Jerry Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. Fourth St., Garner.

Roger Duane Olson, the son of Melvin A. and Christina Louise (Schwartz) Olson, was born April 1, 1940, on a farm near Clear Lake. Roger attended school at Ventura and Klemme. On May 28, 1960, he married Linda L. Wolters at the Little Brown Church near Nashua. He worked as a truck driver for the Doden Truck Line in Woden, for the Klemme Cooperative Elevator, Land O'Lakes in Mason City for 16 years, and then farmed west of Ventura from 1963, until the time of his death, Tuesday, March 4, 1997. He did custom trucking and baling, fed feeder cattle and was a cattle buyer. He enjoyed his three grandsons, his family and just enjoyed working.

He is survived by his wife, Linda L. Olson of Ventura; two sons, Dan Olson and his wife, Eenja, and their two sons, Jacob and Daniel, all of Tague, South Korea; and Gregory Olson and his wife, Kimberly, and their son, Zachary, of Kansas City, Mo.; his mother, Christina Olsen and her husband, Arlin, of Klemme; his father, Melvin Olson and his wife, Mary, of Mason City; three brothers, Merlyn Olson and his wife, Audrey, of Santa Maria, Calif.; Harland Olsen and his wife, Janet, of Mason City; and Randy Olsen and his wife, Monica, of Garner; a sister, Susie Olsen of Klemme; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and a special uncle, Herbert Schwartz.
