Kenneth A. Kahler, 73, of Austin, Minnesota died Monday, Nov. 19, 2001, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. He was born April 13, 1928, in Klemme, Iowa, to Emmett C. and Margaret (Bates) Kahler. He married Jackolein Jean Norton July 19, 1953, at the Church of Christ in Austin. He worked as a mechanic for Hormel Foods and as a farmer. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Legion, VFW, Elks Lodge 813, American Legion and the Rural Letter Carrier Auxiliary.

Survivors include a son, Gary Kahler, Austin; two daughters, Deb Kahler, Austin; Nancy Allore, Austin; two grandsons; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Kay Kahler, Prior Lake; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Alvin Noterman, Boulder, Colo.; John and Jean Norton, Austin; Elaine and Cliff Stoen, Austin; Aggie and Dick Pederson, Rose Creek; Barb and John Wendal, Waverly, Iowa; Eudell and Maynard Hamor, Joliet, Ill.; Judy and Rich Bastin, Fort Worth, Texas; Janice Neuman, Forth Worth; nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jackolein Kahler in 1995; a son, David; a brother, Russell Kahler; a sister, Shirley Noterman; his parents, Emmett and Margaret Kahler; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Milton and Stella Norton.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 22, 2001, at Mayer Funeral Home and one hour before the service at the church on Friday. Service: 11 a.m. Friday at the Church of Christ-Christian (103 Second Street SW) with Pastor Dave DeFor officiating. Interment: Grandview Cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post No. 91 and VFW Post No. 1216.
