LATIMER, IA - Darlene Fink, 69, of Latimer, died Monday afternoon (June 25, 2001) at her home. The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Latimer, with Pastor Randall Bell officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Church Cemetery in Latimer. Visitation was held on Wednesday at the Willim Funeral Home in Latimer and one hour before services today at the church.
Darlene was born at Klemme, on June 3, 1932, to Albert and Louise (Greimann) Etchen. She graduated from Klemme High School in 1950. Darlene was united in marriage to Marvin Fink on Sept. 22, 1956, at Klemme. Darlene loved to play guitar and yodel. She entertained with her yodeling as far away as Cheyenne, Wyo., and for Bankers Life in Des Moines. She also enjoyed gardening and being an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. During her retirement years, she enjoyed traveling with her husband to Phoenix and Florida.
Darlene is survived by her husband, Marvin Fink, of Latimer; two daughters, Vickie Fink, of Phoenix, Ariz., and Linda Hendel and husband, Marc, of West Des Moines; one grandson, Benjamin Hendel, of West Des Moines; five siblings, Eloise Kuhlers and husband, Elmer, of Brooksville, Fla., Winton Etchen and his wife, Dorothy, of Urbandale, Carroll Etchen, and his wife, El, of Clear Lake, Elwyn "Aunie" Etchen, and his wife, Donna, of Clear Lake, and Delbert Etchen, of Clarion. Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Louise Etchen; a granddaughter, Emily Hendel, in October 2000, and also by a brother, Merle Etchen, in 1982. Willim Funeral Home
