Mason City Globe-Gazette - IowaKLEMME, IA - Funeral services for Lyle Dean Goll, 64, of Klemme, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Klemme, with Pastor Mona Burns officiating. Burial will be in Ell Township Cemetery in Klemme. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Tenold Funeral Home in Klemme and will continue one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.
Lyle Dean Goll, the son of Alvin and Golda (Moberly) Goll, was born on March 8, 1935, on the Goll family farm east of Klemme. Lyle was baptized and confirmed at the Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Klemme. He attended and graduated from the Klemme school system in 1952. Lyle was united in marriage to Gloria Tenold on April 15, 1956, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Joice. Lyle loved farming and was a seed corn and soybean salesman for many years. He was very active in his church, serving on the Consistory as a Deacon and an Elder. He was also a 4-H leader. He began driving school bus for the Klemme school district at the age of 18. He gave up driving school bus for a short time while he was farming more acres, then got back behind the wheel and drove a total of 30 years. The children gave him great joy and he even went so far as to wear a Santa hat and handed out Christmas treats to the kids during the holiday season.
Lyle died from cancer on Monday (Feb. 21, 2000) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Gloria, of Klemme; a son, Brian Goll, of Klemme; a daughter, Valerie Schmidt and her husband, Phil, of Earlham; five grandchildren, Brandon, Blair and Dalton Goll and Alan and Daniel Schmidt. Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Golda. Tenold Funeral Home.
