February 16, 1967Former Pastor Dies at Mason City
Funeral services for Rev. Milton M. Schaper, 67, a retired pastor who formerly served the First Methodist church in Hawarden were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Methodist church in Mason City. Dr. George T. Carl, pastor and Dr. Arthur Kindred, district superintendent of the Methodist church’s Mason City district, officiated. Burial was at Memorial Park cemetery in Sioux City with Dr. Charles Mason, Sioux City Methodist district superintendent, officiating at graveside rites.
Rev. Schaper died Sunday at a Mason City hospital after a short illness. He was born March 12, 1899, at Klemme, Iowa, and was graduated from Morningside college and from Garrett Biblical Institute, Evanston, Ill. He married Frances Groom June 12, 1946 in Denver. Rev. Schaper died Sunday, at Hawarden Methodist church from 1946 to 1948. He retired in 1964.
Survivors include the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Verne McClure of Algona, Iowa; two step-sons, Robert T. Bramson of Moville and David B. Bramson of Waukesha, Wis.; two step-daughters, Mrs. F. J. Gilbride of Sioux Falls and Mrs. Everett Vannorsdel of Nevada, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; a brother, Homer, of Sioux City, and a sister, Mrs. Lester L. Davis of Albuquerque, N.M.
