***************************
Kent James Stahl, age 50, of Aplington, Iowa, was born the son of Calvin and Janice (Schoneman) Stahl on September 17, 1959, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital, Grundy Center, Iowa. He was baptized into the Christian faith at the Colfax Presbyterian Church, rural Holland, Iowa. He received his education and graduated from the Aplington High School in 1978. Kent continued his education at RSI (The Refrigeration School Institute) in Phoenix, Arizona where he completed his heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration mechanics training to be a certified HVAC/R Technician. Kent was currently employed at Mort’s Plumbing & Heating in Iowa Falls, Iowa.

Kent enjoyed traveling with his family and would often stop at the roadside parks to spot an eagle and watch the other wildlife. In his earlier years he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Some of his favorite things to do were to have coffee on the porch in the mornings, to watch WWE Wresting at night and have peanut M & M‘s most any time of the day. His pride and joy were his grandchildren and he was known to them as Papa. Kent especially loved to see and play with them as often as possible. His kid’s joke with him was; somehow he would know the mile marker number, wherever we were at on the road, and would say…oh you are at mile marker # such and such, and they would laugh and smile, as they would drive by, he almost knew their exact number as they passed the next marker.

Kent died Thursday, July 8, 2010, at the Wright Medical Center in Clarion, Iowa, of natural causes. He was preceded in death by one sister, Beth Stahl; his paternal grandparents’, John and Martha (Franken) Stahl; his maternal grandparents’, Folkert and Augusta (Maifeld) Schoneman; a brother-in-law, Michael Ashby; and a friend, Jack. Kent is survived by his wife, Ellen Stahl of Aplington, IA; two sons, Greg (Jenna) Jones of Wellsburg, IA, and Casey (Amber) Jones of Aplington, IA; one daughter, Jessica (Nate) Bertram of Aplington, IA; six grandchildren, Cadence, Mason, Landon, Ava, Chase and Parker; his parents, Calvin and Janice Stahl of Aplington, IA; two brothers, Hal (Marty) Stahl of Aplington, IA, and Keith (Marcia) Stahl of Rio, IL; two sisters, Janeen (Chad) Stohr of Aplington, IA, and Sharla (Butch) Kampman of Pella, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
