CLARION - Donald Leon Stark, 61, of Clarion, Iowa passed away suddenly on July 9, 2010. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Ewing Funeral Home, 602 North Main Street, in Clarion with Pastor Corey Larson officiating. Visitation will be held at Ewing Funeral Home from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, July 13, 2010.

Don was born December 11, 1948 to Thomas and DeeLorys (Brown) Stark of Clarion, Iowa. He graduated from Clarion High School in 1967. He then moved to Spencer where he received a degree in Accounting. While in Iowa, he served in the National Guard and was inducted into the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame. He also discovered his true love of football and published the first edition of his Sports Handicapping Almanac. He went on to Las Vegas where he could pursue his love of the game. While in Nevada, he got his Real Estate License and managed three casinos. He later moved to Costa Rica and resided there until 2009. He recently relocated back to Iowa to be near his family.

Don is survived by three children and three granddaughters; Stacy (Katy and Sara) of Ames, Sydnee and fiance Aaron (Brylee) of Eldora, and Skylar of Iowa City; his mother Dee (George) Baker of Clarion; his brothers Russ (Jannel) Stark of Clarion, Tim (Julie) Stark of Clarion, and Jeff Stark of St. Louis, MO; lifelong friend Nancy Duitscher. He was preceded in death by his father. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be used for a scholarship fund for Donald's grandchildren.
