August 19, 2009Eva Katherine Glassell, died on Friday, August 14, 2009, at the Adair County Memorial Hospital in Greenfield, at the age of 94. A Mass of Resurrection was held on Tuesday, August 18, at the St. John's Catholic Church in Greenfield, Iowa. The Rev. Mike McLaughlin officiated. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Cemetery, Garner, at l:00 p.m., on Wednesday, August 19. Eva was born on October 5, 1914 in Corwith, the daughter of George and Ella (Halligan) Stokesbary. She grew up and was educated in Klemme. She was united in marriage to Truman John Glassell. To this union one son, William was born. They lived in Garner, Storm Lake and later moved to Fontanelle in 1994. She was retired from the Garner School District as the school secretary. She enjoyed playing bridge and cribbage. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Truman in 1977; two brothers, Orville and George, Jr. Stokesbary; and one sister, Florence Bair. She is survived by her son, William "Bill" Glassell and wife, Julie of Australia; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. The Steen Funeral Home in Fontanelle was in charge of the arrangements.
