James "Jim" R. Austin, 58, of Klemme, died on Tuesday, September 30, 2003, at the Mercy Medical Center, Mason City. Funeral services were held on Friday, October 3, at the United Methodist Church in Garner, with the Rev. David Wagner officiating. Music was provided by organist, Mary Kopacek who accompanied congregational hymns. Ushers were Maynard and Marvin Schoneman. Honorary bearers were all of the Yohnco and Wright Material employees. Casket bearers were Kevin Willemsen, Matt Frazier, Clark Quinn, Bill Doble, Bill Greiman, Kenny Coe, Linda Dockwell and Richard Flaten. Burial was in the Concord Township Cemetery, Garner. The Cataldo Funeral Home of Garner was in charge of the arrangements.

James Robert Austin, the son of Cecil Robert and Florence Juanita (Ward) Austin, was born on February 3, 1945 at Mason City. He attended school at Easton, Minnesota and was employed as a mechanic in the North Iowa area. On February 21, 1970, he married Joyce Marie Steenblock of Rockford, Illinois. They made their home near Klemme. In 1986, Jim joined the family of Yohnco Ready Mix where he was employed as the head mechanic for all of the plants in North Iowa. He enjoyed his grandchildren, his job and car racing.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce of Klemme; daughter, Tina Miller and husband, Danny and their children, Cody, Logan and Kaitlin all of Garner; brothers and sisters, Hazel Raprager of Plymouth, Harvey Austin and wife, Dorothy of Cartersville, LaVerna Colombo of Mason City, Mildred Brooks of Morris, Illinois, Lyle Austin and wife, LaDonna of Kellerton, Ethel Endress and husband, Glen of Mason City, Delores Rinnels of Michigan and Thelma Beightol and husband, Rick of Plymouth. Also surviving are brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Delores Wiemann and husband, Orville of Wisconsin, Alan Steenblock and wife, Dee of Mitchellville, Betty Beck and husband, Virgil of Northwood, Darwin Steenblock of Britt, Mary Hinders and husband, Roger of Belmond, Raymond Steenblock and wife, Carla of Des Moines, Darrell Steenblock and wife, Jackie of Ankeny, Leo Steenblock and wife, Jo Ann of Forest City, Janice Krug of Fort Dodge and Marvin Steenblock of Des Moines; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; friends at Yohnco, Bill Yohn, Linda Dockwell and the rest of the employees. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Tommy and Richard Austin.
