The Rev. James E. Albertson, of Fort Dodge, former pastor of the Klemme United Methodist Church, died on Friday, August 9, 2002. He was 84. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, August 13, at the United Methodist Church of Forest City. The Rev. Gary Marzolf officiated. Music was provided by organist, Bonnie Peterson who accompanied several congregational hymns. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery, Forest City. The Petersen Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

James E. Albertson, was born in Forest City on April 28, 1918. He was the son of George and Bertha (Hanna) Albertson. He graduated from the Forest City High School and continued his education at Evanston Collegiate Institute of Evanston, Illinois and the Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan. He received his Divinity Degree from Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio. On June 15, 1942, James married Jean Voss at Port Huron, Michigan. Pastor Albertson served several churches in Iowa including congregations at Havelock, Ware, Titonka, Doan, Sibley, Dysart, Klemme, Liberty, Rockwell City and Cherokee. The couple then moved to Humboldt where he became Director of Development for Friendship Haven of Fort Dodge. After retiring, the couple lived in several North Iowa communities before moving to Fort Dodge. Jim enjoyed traveling and liked to garden and go fishing. He was a compassionate caregiver to his family, to those he led spiritually and to total strangers in need.

He is survived by four children, Wanda Pals of Des Moines, Beth Erickson and husband, Rusty, of Hot Springs, Ark., Talitha Albertson of Garner, and Jim W. Albertson of Madison, Wis.; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, George Albertson of Garner, and three sisters, Anna Mae Taylor of Northwood, Tharon Steinmetz of Forest City and Janice Broom of Nora Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean; four brothers, Merle, Herbert, Marlin (Buddy) and Donald Albertson; and six sisters, Doris Albertson, Lorraine Pletcher, Margie Ellefson, Elaine Gunderson, Mardel Albertson and Lois Hanna.
