GARNER - Della C. Josten, 88, of Garner died Thursday (Nov. 28, 2002) at the Oakwood Care Center in Clear Lake. Her funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Garner with the Rev. Darrell Weber officiating. Interment will be in Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Cataldo Funeral Home in Garner and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
Della Caroline Josten, the daughter of Frank and Louise (Kropp) Rosendahl, was born Dec. 15, 1913, on a farm near Garner. She was baptized at Peace Reformed Church south of Garner and confirmed at Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Klemme, where she was active in the church choir and Bible class. She attended rural school south of Garner. On Feb. 17, 1932, she was married to Ewald V. Josten in Klemme. They farmed and raised their family northeast of Klemme until retiring from farming in 1972. In the spring of 1974 they moved to Garner. Della enjoyed her family, sewing, crafts and gardening. She was a member of Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Garner.
Della is survived by her three sons, Calvin Josten and his wife, Ella, of Ventura, Marvin Josten and his wife, Dianne, of Garner, and Edward Josten and his wife, Kathy, of Elkader, eight grandchildren, James Josten and his wife, Carol, of Des Moines, Dean Josten and his wife, Miriam, and their children, Matthew, Michael and Luke, all of Ventura, Becky Bull and her husband, Jim, and their sons, Branson and Mitchell, all of Mason City, Karen Faktor and her husband, Doug, and their children, Benjamin and Hannah, all of Mason City, Lynne Bovenmyer and her husband, Brian, of Garwin, Eric Josten and his wife, Staci, and their son, Zachary, of Ankeny, and Kyle and Caitlin Josten of Elkader; and her sister, Louise Priebe, of Garner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ewald, July 25, 1978; her parents; three brothers, Ervin, Walter and Franklin Rosendahl; a sister, Mabel Schlawin, and a stillborn brother.
