Caroline Lillian Kluckhohn, 83, Klemme, died June 9, 2006 at the Westview Care Center in Britt. Services were held June 13 at Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ in Klemme with Rev. Donna Buckman will be officiating. Burial was in the Ell Township Cemetery, Klemme.

Caroline was born November 7, 1922 on a farm at Wesley, the daughter of Pearl and Celia (Bergman) Schwartz. In 1929 the family moved to Klemme where she attended school and worked for families cleaning and babysitting. On July 10, 1946 she married Kenneth Kluckhohn at Cedar Falls. She enjoyed going on bus trips with her husband, doing embroidery, playing cards, and playing bingo. She also liked to sit by the window and watch the squirrels and birds in their backyard. Caroline worked at BMD cleaning the offices while Kenneth cleaned the shop area. Caroline always made sure you had something to eat. On Sunday afternoon the house was always filled with polka music. In earlier years she enjoyed walking to her daughter and granddaughter's home to take care of their dog, Hershey, and later she enjoyed visits at the care center from their dog Pepper. She was a member of the UCC Women's Fellowship and was always willing to help out at funerals and cleaning the church. Caroline had been a resident of the Westview Care Center since October 2003.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Herbert and Harold Schwartz; sister Christina Olsen; and an infant sister. Survivors include her husband, daughter Carol Marchant, and granddaughter Angie Kluckhohn, all of Klemme; grandson Jeff Marchant and special friend Susie of Mason City; son Larry (Marcia) Kluckhohn of Garner, granddaughter Kristi (Bruce) Foyt of Rosemount, MN; grandsons Jason (Nicole) Kluckhohn of Greer, SC, and Todd Kluckhohn of Kansas City; great grandchildren Ryan and Lauren Foyt and Caleb Kluckhohn; and sister-in-law Jean Schwartz of Belmond.
