June 9, 2005Fern M. Linahon, 79, a long-time resident of Klemme, most recently a resident of Concord Care Center in Garner, died June 3, 2005 at Muse Norris Hospice in Mason City. Services were held June 8 at Immanuel Reformed United Church of Christ, Klemme, with Rev. Donna Buckman officiating. Burial was at Ell Township Cemetery near Klemme. Fern Marjorie, the daughter of Edward and Christine (Ausborn) Gifford, was born October 28, 1925 on a farm near Klemme. She attended various country schools and Ventura High School. Fern married William Dale Linahon in November 1946. Fern enjoyed gardening, horses and dogs. She was well known for her wedding cakes and other cooking skills. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and creating her own designs. She was active in the VFW Auxiliary and was a Cub Scout den mother. She had resided at the Concord Care Center since August 2002.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include son Jerry (Melba) Linahon of Laurel, MT; daughter Marlene (Jack) Smith of Klemme; grandchildren Kristal Hodges of Redmond, OR, Nicole Eastlick of Wichita, KS, Matthew Linahon of Forest City, Michelle Rodriguez of Redmond, Christina Smith and Teri Smith of Klemme; and two great-grandchildren.
