Verner E. Lau, 83, Garner, died Jan. 16, 2004 at Westview Care Center in Britt. Funeral services were held Jan. 20 at Zion Evangelical Reformed Church in Garner. Burial was in Ell Township Cemetery near Klemme with military rites by Klemme Veterans. Verner Emil, the son of Emil and Alma Ella (Haberkamp) Lau, was born October 15, 1920 on a farm south of Klemme. After graduating from Klemme High School in 1938 he farmed with his father. From 1944-46 he was in the U.S. Army. On June 4, 1958 he married Velma Larsen. Verner was preceded in death by his parents; brother Allen and sister Lois Happel. He is survived by his wife of Garner; and daughters Barbara (Greg) Burket of Minburn and Debra (Jess) Dunn of Grimes.
