John Michael Frakes, the son of John A. and Ruth (Penfield) Frakes, was born November 9, 1944, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Eagle Grove, graduating from Eagle Grove High School “Class of 1963”. John then served in the National Guard. For 4 years. On January 8, 1966, John was united in marriage with Judy Ann Douglas at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove. John worked in the trucking business for 46 years as Diesel Mechanic and Desk Clerk. He was employed by Ellsworth, Umthun and Smithway Trucking Companies. John was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where he served on the Parish Council, Cemetery Board, as Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
John passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010, in Eagle Grove at the age of 65 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, John A. Frakes and Ruth Frakes Ely and his brother and sister-in-law, James and Janette Frakes. Survivors include his wife, Judy A. Frakes; three daughters: Brenda Ann Hebert and husband James of Fort Dodge, Lynette Marie Jergens of Denver and Jennifer Kay Frakes of Minneapolis, MN; 4 grandchildren: Lindsey and Brent Hebert and Alyssa and Sydney Jergens; 1 great-granddaughter, Alivia Hebert; sister, Arneda Toillion and husband Bruce of Spokane, WA and numerous extended family and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 12, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove with Father Nils Hernandez celebrant. Visitation is Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 5:00 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family. Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, Iowa.
