Emma Christians was born March 12, 1913 on her parents home northeast of Klemme, the daughter of John and Christina (Ennega) Christians. She attended Hancock County rural schools. Emma was united in marriage to William James Neuberger on February 15, 1934, at the Reformed Church parsonage in Klemme. The couple farmed and raised their children east of Klemme. Emma was a lifelong homemaker and devoted wife and mother, dedicated to providing a nurturing and comfortable home to her family. She took great pride in teaching her children about values, faith, and family. Emma enjoyed family gatherings and remembered special events in the lives of her family and friends with cards, letters or gifts. Her motto was, "If you can't say something good about someone, don't say anything at all." Emma enjoyed time with her grandchildren; playing card games with her family; baking bread; canning; clipping recipes; caring for flowers and gardening; and Sunday visits to relatives. In earlier years, Emma and William enjoyed square dancing and other ballroom dancing. Her family cherishes the memory of family outings to the movies on Friday nights with Emma and William.
