Lois Marie Hockett, 78, Boone, died December 10, 2002 at Israel Family Hospice in Ames. A graveside service was held December 13 at Dallas Township Cemetery near Dawson. Lois Marie was born Feb. 25, 1924 near Scranton, IA, the daughter of William Herbert Sailer and Irma Jane Jenison Sailer. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1942. She married Levi Turner Hockett in 1948 and they lived on a farm near Jamaica where they raised six children. They retired to Boone in 1984. She entered a Boone care facility two years ago. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband in 1987, and brothers Clark and Paul. Survivors include sons Norman (Anne) Hockett of Ames, Paul Hockett of Ames, and Kevin (Sandra) Hockett of State Center; daughters Elaine (Loren) Lindemann of Boone, Kathleen (Bill) Whitver of Belmond, and Lori Hockett of Ames; eleven grandchildren; two brothers, and two sisters.
